Western Red Cedar - naturally preserved against rot and infestation.
Framing - 2x4s are framed "on end" and flush with the face of the post, they are toe-nailed top and bottom with 16 penny glue dipped, galvanized nails.Aluminum Ring Shank Nails - six-glue dipped, 8 penny, aluminum ring shank nails are used on each board.Concrete Footings - 4x4 posts are set 8' on center into a 9" diameter concrete footing, nearly a wheel barrow full of concrete on each and every post. Requires no maintenance. A virtually indestructible joint is created by the post, 2x4 and cover board. Loose boards are not a concern. Aluminum nail does not create the unsightly "black bleeding" onto the boards as is common with other types of fasteners. Does an excellent job of battling wind and snow loads, frost heave and moving soil conditions. Keeps your fence nice and straight for many, many years. |
